Linda Evangelista recently came clean stating she can’t hide in the closet forever. The 56-year-old supermodel felt really anxious and embarrassed to show her face/ figure even to those closest to her. That was the most darkest and saddest period in her life. But after more than 5 years, she finally had the courage to speak out about it and open up.

During August 2015 to February 2016, Linda Evangelista underwent a couple of sessions of CoolSculpting (the brand name for a fat-freezing method that aims to get rid of stubborn fat in certain parts of your body). But the surgery didn’t work out as planned. The parts where she wanted to decrease the fat increased and they also got really stiff.
The CoolSculpting surgery really bothered Linda to the point where she even stopped drinking and eating much. The unnecessary fat gains really messed up her mind. After 4 months of her surgery, she was diagnosed with a rare side effect paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH) which was causing her fat gains. And no matter how much you diet or workout it couldn’t be fixed.

But after coming clean in 2021, she sued the company Zeltiq Aesthetics Inc. Prior to her surgery, she wasn’t warned about chances of possible side effects. She thought that was the right thing to do as PAH took 5 years of her career.
She shared, “PAH has not only destroyed my livelihood, it has sent me into a cycle of deep depression, profound sadness, and the lowest depths of self-loathing. In the process, I have become a recluse.”

Linda also shared some beautiful words encouraging people suffering the same thing to come out and face it.
“I hope I can shed myself of some of the shame and help other people who are in the same situation as me. “That’s my goal. I’m not going to hide anymore.
The supermodel posted the above photo in her Instagram @lindaevangelista captioned, “I’m not done telling my story, and I will continue sharing my experience to rid myself of shame, learn to love myself again, and hopefully help others in the process.”

Yes, Linda made her first appearance after her botched surgery to do a cover photo for Vogue. Many of you might wonder how she her face still looks good and in shape after PAH. The answer is, she used face tape and elastic to pull back her face, jaw and neck to make it look more tighter. Here’s what Linda has to say,
“That’s not my jaw and neck in real life – and I can’t walk around with tape and elastics everywhere.”
But for the photos,” she added. “Look, for photos I always think we’re here to create fantasies. We’re creating dreams. I think it’s allowed. Also, all my insecurities are taken care of in these pictures, so I got to do what I love to do.
